Pianistic Perfection IV

  1. The Mozart piece was probably my favorite in its entirety, but the skill of the pianist is highest, I think, in this video.

  2. Camilo is a monster pianist, in both the classical and jazz traditions, and a great performer (live). The pianist in the Mozart clip is a flawless technician (while Mozart's Concerto #21, movement I, is actually one of my all-time favorites -- look that one up). Christian Jacobs is, to my mind, the best living jazz pianist performing in the style of my favorite modern jazz composer and pianist, M. Petrucciani. The latter possessed (he died in 1999) otherworldly chops and rhythmic/harmonic sensibilities.

  3. Concerto #21: Phenomenal. I will also look up Christian Jacobs.

I am about to begin learning the piano, it is the one instrument I have always wanted to play. It's a beautiful sounding instrument that looks, also, fun to play.

  4. Yes, #21 is beautiful.

Great to hear you're taking up the piano; it continues to be one of the most challenging, yet at the same time (no surprise) most rewarding, things I've ever done.
